Positioned as a premier platform for agri-food innovation, the Agri-Food Tech World Championship offers start-ups more than a pitch opportunity; it also brings a global showcase where start-up's transformative ideas and ground-breaking solutions receive international recognition.

Under the theme “Empowering the Future of Agri-Food Tech,” the championship is dedicated to discovering and supporting high-potential start-ups—from seed to Series A—across agri-tech, food sustainability, health & wellness, and deep-tech sectors.

Competition Information

21 August – 30 September 2024: Call for Applications     (CLOSED)

Registration is online and your application should include the following:

  • A video presentation of no more than 3 minutes explaining the start-up’s concept, market potential, and business model, with a focus on agri-food or agri-tech solutions. File format: mp4, English only

  • A pitch deck of no more than 10 slides covering key aspects such as the problem statement, solution, market opportunity, business model, traction, team, and financial projections, emphasising the relevance to agri-food or agri-tech. File format: PDF, English only

1 - 20 October 2024: Screening and Qualifiers

All applications will undergo an initial review to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria and application requirements. Start-ups will be evaluated based on the strength of their applications, including the innovation of the idea, market potential, and team capabilities, particularly in the agri-food and agri-tech sectors. 

Selected start-ups will be notified by 20 October 2024. Up to 70 start-ups will progress to Qualifiers, which will be held in Singapore at AFTEA 2024 on 19 November 2024. Teams will need to present in English.

19 – 21 November 2024: Competition Stages

Quarter Finals - 19 November 2024

  • Up to 70 start-ups will pitch to a panel of judges. Each start-up will have 3 minutes pitching. The top 5 start-ups will progress into Semi-Finals

Semi Finals - 20 November 2024

  • 36 start-ups comprising 5 from Day 1 and another 31 start-ups from Innovate 360-led regional selections will compete.

    Each start-up allotted 3 minutes to pitch. The top 15 will progress into Finals.

Finals - 21 November 2024 (2 Battle rounds)

  • Round 1 - All 15 start-ups each will be allotted a total of 5 minutes; 3 minutes to pitch and 2 minutes of Q&A

    During this round, judges with the 'golden buzzer' can also choose to fast-track select teams to the next round.

    At the end of Round 1, the top 8 teams will progress into Round 2.

     

  • Round 2 - All 8 finalists will deliver a 1 minute elevator pitch, followed by rapid Q&A.

    At the end of Round 2, the top team will be crowned Grand Champion.

    Additionally, 10 other subsidiary awards will be offered to select teams.

Shortlisted start-ups will be notified of their participation status by 20 October 2024; we regret to inform that only shortlisted start-ups will be notified.

Important: Shortlisted start-ups are responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses for AFTEA 2024. To continue in the competition, start-ups must also secure a AFTEA exhibition pod for S$3,000. Terms and conditions apply.

Participants may choose to enter as an individual or as a team. Judges will be evaluating entries based on:

  • Innovativeness (20%) 

  • Impact of solution (20%)

  • Differentiation from existing solutions (20%)

  • Feasibility to commercialise and expand (20%)

  • Investment potential (20%)
